Dorta Jagic (1974) was born in Sinj. She writes poetry, short prose pieces, essays an travelogues. Since 1999 she has been involved with various amateur theatre groups as a director and educator. She is an author of six poetry collections and tree short stories volumes. She lives as a freelance writer and translator in Zagreb, Croatia.

expensive old pocket spider
spins images of the creation of spider world
in that dusty, northernmost room.
by now it's discernible that the first spider
emerged as he did
because the paleo-ballerina aged and got fat,
died deserted and buried in a moldy little slipper
from which she wriggled out three days later
as a diadem spider.
a very proud and angry spider,
an ingenious madman, filled with abllet skirt threads.
(these silk threads are more than ideal
for the innocent-like revengeful meshwork.)
