Edwin Owade Poems

When I was there,
She was after fame and he after femme fatale,
They rock and roll in a roller-coaster of love and titanic flare,
Fair to say she was on instagram and twitter looking for a perfect pal,
...

QUICK, like a hot fiery comet,
She landed on my hearts' crust.
Surreptitiously, quenching a deep desire,
A desire for love and affection,
...

Gentle breeze of the coastal winds,
Wafting the forgotten,
From far, soothing whispers of lost reality,
With its melodious tunes of turbulent waves;
...

Jeez! ! ! You look familiar, with a smile ear to ear,
OH my…, I must have seen you somewhere,
I am that guy on IG, I said without a dent of fear,
I mean I'm the real OG over there,
...

Away drifting,
Like a boat by the sea,
Dancing upon the face of the waters.
From the deep sea of my heart,
...

You're a candle,
A burning candle,
A bright burning candle in this dreadfully silent night,
Illuminating our shattered dreams,
...

There he is the omniscient,
A guru of the current and the ancient,
Graduate of linguistics from the mighty kibabii,
Mannerism of the queens' land from looks to accent of ‘'bees''
...

If I must write,
Let it be an ode canvassed in black and white,
Free from farce and stylistically free verse,
Paragon of virtue in its pithy and terse,
...

Noon breeze of the monsoons winds, behold a real buzz,
Still fresh the lyrics, tempo, and message of the 'dance n' shake' band,
Son of my mother the last heir to the Baz,
The cuisine of our motherland cures, not the fries of the queen's land,
...

10.

Habibi,
Your gait and inviting lazy waist,
Ooze's hotness like the dusty Mambrui sandy dunes.
Deeply buried in the contour of your cleavage,
...

Far and wide
East to the west side
They'll rise
In unison en masse
...

Fiery clouds of terror,
Hovering above our serene motherland,
From east to west,
Igniting sparks of suffering and thunderbolts of deaths,
...

When I was there,
She was after fame and he after femme fatale,
They rock and roll in a roller-coaster of love and titanic flare,
Fair to say she was on instagram and twitter looking for a perfect pal,
With her fellow damsels they sipped, drank and took booze of their choice,
He too, took one too many the likes of Johnny walker and Hunters choice,
Rocking, partying and clubbing she believed in all this hype,
Paul Getty aside, he was the real deal in manner, swagger and type,
Like trash, damsels were dumped, from Shayne to marry Jane,

When I was there,
They were a perfect pair,
Romeo and Juliet, behold love was in the air,
There deep affection and friendship an envy to the public stare,
Mistaken identity she got Ben, a good boy only to be a player,
He too got enticed by the looks and bootylicious of a sly Kate,
With an appetite of a snake, the forbidden fruit they ate,
Now she is blessed and he out of the apple got a killer malady.

When I was there,
She was in praise and he led the amazing grace,
They sung, prayed and worshipped to the amusement of the horde,
Happiness and joy was beaming in every congregants face,
With your voice, they said, 'give thanks to the lord, '
Christians to the latter, chastity was the way,
'a life of debauchery is a sin, the lord therefore say',
Their mantra was: books is the fodder,
With this in life nothing will be a tall order.
