The day is warm; the water's cool.
It's like no place you've ever seen;
to miss this sight you'd be a fool.

Never-Changing Hills

All day I love to walk among these pines
and smell the fragrance flowing from the trees.

There's nuthin' more relaxing, friend,
when day's work all is done,
than sittin' ‘round that warm camp fire
to setting of the sun.

I hear the soft chime
from many a lip:
'I think it's time
we jump this ship.'

This morning I was lying in my bed,
thinking poetic thoughts before the dawn.
Some wondrous lines of verse ran through my head,
but when I try recalling them, they're gone.

My hair is getting thin;
my waist is getting fat.
I've whiskers on my chin
and blisters on my shin.
...

Two chipmunks running through the leaves
there on the forest floor - -
they had an energy and zest
that I'd not seen before.
...

The planets do their dance around the sun;
their moons revolve around the planets, too.
I can't imagine how this thing is done;
it just seems too unlikely to be true.

Years ago, when I was just a kid, I invented the Bread Sandwich.
Only my creativity didn't stop there.
Unrestrained, I also invented the Nothing Sandwich!
