Mustofa Munir Poems

With an altruistic lamp of love in my hand
I grope around for you in the darkness,
In the shadows and in the light.
Oh! I am nearing to a whirlwind!
...

When the clock of civilization has
Lost its sense of time,
To my friends I offered warmth,
Blessed forgiveness to my enemies,
...

I'm the traveler, the southwardly wind,
Toward an unknown land I began travelling at the end
Of spring! The land where neither death nor night exists!
At the parting moment heart fills with happy tears,
...

In a swarthy night with waves of
Circling smoke a burning pyre blazed on me.
O my beloved soul, here I am!
Come back! Show me the daybreak,
...

If you want to see my face
Create a mirror,
If you want to address my heart
Come back to me with your gifted self,
...

From within the forms of an opulent ambience
A leaf I see is liberated from a tree,
It rejoices its gliding with the wind,
When I release a kite in the sky
...

Like a mountain-daughter
You descended to my altar of love,
It was a moment
I could not flee from,
...

Deep in sleep

Deep in sleep my wearied Nightingale,
The pallid flaccid flowers of evening
...

The sun I saw when I took birth—
Not that one now hanging over my head,
That sun I wanted to see shining again,
That sun dawned the horizon and
...

‘Tis now dawn, open up the door,
Wake up O dear
Little girl! The birds are chirping over
From the Jui-branch there,
...

They are the power of humanity,
In the peaceful protest march
The rainbows of thousands youthful Black, White
And Brown merge together,
...

the night is aging slowly … it walks down
a long distance amid rumble and
resonance of trilling cacophony of deaths!
rain stopped its downpour,
...

Blossomed With Soft Shyness

With an altruistic lamp of love in my hand
I grope around for you in the darkness,
In the shadows and in the light.
Oh! I am nearing to a whirlwind!
I fear lest my thirsty heart would
Lose the track, miss the footprints you left,

In my solitary dream like a
Petal-soft autumn-flower you appeared
And blossomed with soft shyness!
A red hibiscus or a shining orchid
You could be! On my face I felt
Your slumberous panting breaths,

O the nameless, I have to secure my much
Needed hope and love from the heat of a
Far-off desert!

In the light of a rising dawn
A violin rendered its prolonged tone
That conveyed your love to me,
It rolled over into the slippery algal
Path of time, into the mystery of pyramids,
Into the page of history!
