স্মরণে প্রয়াত কবি আল মাহমুদ
কবি তুমি কে বা কি
তোমার কবিতা সে সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর।
তোমার কবিতায়
আমি ছিলাম, আছি, থাকব।
তোমার কবিতায়
পুরো প্রকৃতি ছিল লীলায়িত সুন্দর,
ছিল স্বাধীন, সক্রিয়,
ফুলের সুবাসে ছিল মাতোয়ারা নিগূঢ় প্রেম।
এ পৃথিবীর গ্রামীণ প্রেম প্রকৃতি
ছিল আলিঙ্গনে মুগধ তোমার কবিতায়।
গ্রামের কৃষাণ কৃষাণী আর শহুরে ফুলবাবু
ছিল পরিপক্ক উল্লাসের সঙ্গী তোমার কবিতায়।
প্রেমের অকৃত্রিম বাঁশির সুর ছিল
তোমার কবিতার অমর প্রাণ।

বিনীত শ্রদ্ধা জানাই
তোমার এ মহাপ্রয়াণের শ্রাদ্ধকর্মে,
স্রষ্টা বলয়ে
হোক তোমার সে আসন
যে আসন ছিল তোমার প্রার্থনা একান্তে।

Thank you, dear poet, for your excellent eulogy on a great Bengali poet of the 20th century, who has recently passed away, in the same language as the poet used to write. His poetry will live long and continue to inspire the future poets of Bangladesh. I liked your 'Poet's Notes' too, where you have briefly introduced the poet with his full name, which is hardly known to his readers. He was popularly known by the last part of his name, 'Al Mahmud'.
