A Beggar Poem by Heather Burns

A Beggar

Rating: 5.0

Strolling down a dusty
road
at the end of day
coming across a beggar
fallen by the way

His clothes were worn and
tattered
he looked very small
somehow feeling his
greatness

once he had stood so tall

With arms out stretched
He beckoned me
linger awhile
stooping to wipe away a
tear
he began to smile

As I arose in tones so low
he softly said to me
today I've found a friend
I'll repay someday, you'll
see

As you travel through this
life
if you should ever fall
I'll hear your voice and
answer when you call.

Beautiful poem Heather. Very true said in these beautiful lines..... As you travel through this life if you should ever fall I'll hear your voice and answer when you call. Love given will be returned, may be not by the same person, it can be even by some other person too. I loved reading each lines. Thank you Heather, for inspiring comment for my poems, really I am obliged to hear them. Thanks a lot.

Love given will be returned, especially to a love starved soul! A beautiful gesture of compassion and gratitude! Enjoyed!
