A Cricket (Children's Poem) - Poem by Mihaela Pirjol

You, strange creature, cricket green!
When I first saw you—I froze with fear;
But then I heard your "creak-creak" voice
One summer day, and I rejoiced.

Now, every time your "creak-creak" sing,
So joyful are the months of spring!
Dandelions sway in harmony,
And to me—it's the sweetest melody!

Topic(s) of this poem: insects, children, fear, innocence

    It's wonderful how quickly the child goes from fear to joy and then adopts the cricket as a familiar companion. And she joins the dandelions dancing to the cricket's song. I agree with Rachel Sunprincess this is a perfect summer poem. I could even feel the warm sunshine on me and see the bright green colors everywhwere. For a suspended moment it was summer... Then winter returned. (Report) Reply
