A Dream That Gave Me Hope Poem by Aqua Flower

It was the dream
that gave me hope
to end this way with nothingness is so painful
I held on to your love with fingertips
never to fully hold your hand
never to experience fully the love between two people
tidbits and morsels
day after day
but I continued to dream and stay
justifying my actions
going against good values or morals
I'm not a good person
this civil war continues inside me
between my mind and heart
I want to be valued and cherished
I want to feel loved
I don't want to say goodbye to the love I felt from you
I don't want to go back to the emptiness I've known all my life
I hug myself
hoping that whatever love I've experienced will stay inside
