I asked for friendship, nothing else did I ask
I did not ask for life, nor did I ask for your heart

So that I see you often and you come to my mind
I see ringlets over your forehead, I see your beauty all time

My only desire is this: I want to be with you often
You need not hold my hand, I will wait for it later

I will not be living after my death
I want to die peacefully, that's all I ask of you.

बस एक साथ माँगा हैऔर कुछ नहींमाँगा
जॉन तो नहीं मांगी, दिल तो नहीं माँगा

आँखोंमेंरहो तुम ख्यालों में आ जाओ
अलकों में रहो तुम पलकों में समां जाओ

एक ख़ाहिश रखी है, दीदार ही माँगा है
बेशक न थामो हाथ, इंतज़ार ही माँगा है

मिलेगी कहाँ फिर ज़िन्दगी, मौत आने के बाद
चैन से मर सकूँ, बस एक एह्साह ही माँगा है
