A Letter 2 God - Poem by James Halliburton

I write U Father 2 let U know
Your wayward child has begun 2 grow
No longer filled with grief and woe
The time has come 2 let it go

I admit U caused me doubt
On many a night I sought U out
For when I walked that wicked route
U seemed 2 be nowhere about

I was worried U didn’t care
But all the while U were there
It was U who paid my fare
From that road paved in despair

For it was by your guiding light
I made it thru another night
U gave me strength 2 stand and fight
To grab hold of life, and take a bite

I had 2 look for subtle signs
And learn 2 read between the lines
Take heed of anything divine
Internalize and make it mine

So thank U for that course in life
And praise 2 U Almighty Christ
The lessons I learned amidst that strife
I carry as knowledge 4 the rest of my life

Understand your ways?
I’ll never try
Challenge your will?
Not today, not I
U tested me and my scores were high
Today is mine
Because God don’t lie
