Take Time To Think - Poem by Bernard F. Asuncion

Take time to think
Not only twice but many times over;
Say something that causes
Harmony instead of anger.

Ponder all of the events
That happen along the way;
Soberly weigh in your mind
The timely thoughts of the day.

Have a moment of reflection
On the lesson you receive;
Put the message of truth
In your heart before you leave.

Learn to contemplate
While you are all alone;
The wrong you have done
Out there on your own.

Don't forget to meditate first
Before praying to the Almighty;
Never must you be careless
In asking Him for your safety.

Keep both your eyes closed,
Never let them blink;
You have the opportunity,
Take time to think.

    A timely message when many of us would much rather stare at a screen to avoid the awkwardness of appearing thoughtful, and delivered with your standard classical flair...love it! (Report) Reply

    A great philosophical poem for these troubling times. If every one followed your counsel, Bernard, there would be so much more love and harmony in the world. When I meditate to the music of Sri Chinmoy, I feel so much closer to God. Thank you for bringing me even closer. (Report) Reply

    Take time to think
    Bernard F. Asuncion,
    This gave pause to the reality of solitude. Solitude which feeds mental exercise and contemplation. Personally I enjoy a quiet place for just this purpose. Thankyou for writing. This poem was helpful and good advice too! I have written three poems and hope you will check them out and possibly give any advice or input about improovment. I am a baby writer and know it..........................Blessings......................Kathy
