A Lullaby For My Children Poem by Seamus O' Brian

A Lullaby For My Children

Rating: 4.8

Hush your cries, my child
Close your eyes, my child,
Go to sleep my little one.

The sun is gone;
The stars are out;
The moon is shining
Through the clouds

So hush your cries,
And close your eyes,
And go to sleep, my little one

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My earliest memory in life is my mother singing 'Frere Jacques' to me as I fell asleep. I determined to give my children the same memory, and this is the simple rhyme I sang to all five of my children as they fell asleep most nights.

Thank you, MJ. It is strange to see it in writing, bereft of the tune in my mind. :)
