A Minute Or Two Poem by Malabika Ray Choudhury

A Minute Or Two

Rating: 5.0

The phone rang! Looked at the display! !
Was I shaking? ! Was my heart thumping?
Like the way it did when we ran into each other at a bus-station many years ago!

I am at a bus-station! But you are far away!
For a minute or two!
Where are we, who are around us - we forgot!

It is only you and me! The whole world can wait!
Everything and everyone froze -
A girl organizing fruit-boxes on the shelf! A grocery store!
A long queue at the fishmonger!
People pumping gas in their SUV, at the gas-station! !
Prices have gone up this week - eighty-seven cents in Canada!

Nothing matters, we are talking!

For a fleeting moment or two!
