To live with a loss so great
After time of month-long waiting
Would invite such natural rage,
That a child, a babe of no age
Who was wanted and loved so much
Could die, and would leave me in so much
Pain, if Heaven's love did not make
Plain to me that my dear child faces
A place of tender peace, and clutching
Him tightly is Eternal Life, touchingly
Singing his lullaby needs. All praise
Be if my human heart views these ways
As right. Then I can cope, wait to see
Him again, sure he has not ceased to be.
A mothers love goes on forever, even if the child they love is taken away, so sad when it's so young... Andy 10
The hardest thing a parent can ever do is bury their own child 10+
this is a hard one to read...I forgot all my own grief when I lost my brother after I saw the look on my Mother's face....a very touching poem Fay.
A great loss lovingly and convincingly portrayed... how precious are the things that we loose once fiercely loved... Deva
I like the way you personalize 'Eternal Life' as if she were a kindly grandmother 'Singing his Lullaby needs'. Your subject matter is incredibly touching (every parent's worst nightmare) , and your faith-based conclusion allows you to cope with the agony of your loss. A painfully penned, very moving poem. Hi Fay. Kev, as ever, is spot on. Like him, from the very evidence of our own lives (the spirit 'us' inside not getting any older while the body wears out) I believe that we and love 'go on'. Anyone can give me a million proofs of the opposite and I'd still say, 'Sorry, I know because I know, and that is enough'. Love is true and that has to mean just and fair, so there would be no such thing if such a mother were not able to meet, love and be loved by her baby in eternity. To say yours was a touching write would be to do it and you a distinct dis-service. Regards, Tony
Beautifully expressed emotions and I truly believe that we all go on. So much development, so many years of civilisation, hundreds of years of a family's existence to live a life that spans 70 years if we are lucky? ? Or, in the case of this terribly tragic scenario, hardly any time at all? No! It just doesn't make sense, if this is all there is. May the parents of this innocent find comfort in the knowledge that they will, one day, be re-united. Bless you, Fay, for supplying a touching perspective on a delicate subject. Kev.
