A Mother's Plea Poem by Fay Slimm

A Mother's Plea

Rating: 5.0

Caught in the middle
Of love strong-as-death
Waiting forever
For signs of redress.

Heavy with longing
Heart full of prayer
Always seem facing
This burden of care.

Split down the middle.
Heart torn in two.
Feeling it's breaking
At times, over you.

Each day of living
Maternal hope brings
Yearning for healing
'Bove all other things.

Strongest of love-ties,
Motherhood's tears.
Relentlessly falling
As love survives years.

Look homeward again.
Sense welcome and love
Child of my deepest
Affection - come home.

Beautifully written from deep within your heart. Such a difficult time with children. I raised two children alone when their dad died and there were lots of joy but so lonely when things went astray, as they always do when raising them and after they've grown as well. Great poem, Fay. A '10+! ' Warm Wishes, Marilyn
