A Powerful Voice Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

A Powerful Voice

Rating: 4.7

As Christmas draws closer our thoughts turn to kin,
we know that this year is diverse.
For some of us it's just so hard to begin
to know how to handle this curse.

With loved older parents we no longer touch,
yet wish we could hug and draw near.
Resisting the need to reach out oh so much
but know to the rules we'll adhere

Yet thinking about why a hug feel so good,
It is not just a fanciful thing,
our bodies release bonding hormones that flood
Oxytocin can make your heart sing!

But here is a thing that perhaps you won't know,
and this year it will give us a choice.
Whilst a hug generates loads of Oxytocin
The same happens when hearing your voice!

The sound of the voice of someone you love
is a soothing and magical thing,
so even if hugging is out for this year
know the ‘feel good ‘they'll get when you ring.

Just pick up a phone, and talk long and with love
Just to hear you will set them aglow
And ‘though hugs postponed until maybe next year
Your voice has more power than you know!

I agree so whole heartedly! such beautiful message at a time when we need remedies. Humans need love to survive and thrive. Hearing a loved one's voice definitely can help. I can't wait to hug EVERYONE! :)

Lodigiana a most wonderfully well written, touching and heart felt poem. Also very educational and informative. I had no clue about Oxytocin and the human voice. Your knowledge staggers me. Thanks for writing a superb poem that's fresh, original with great rhyme woven skilfully and neatly throughout. An absolute joy to read. Five well deserved acoustic and lovingly softly spoken stars. Thank you for making my late evening, with your moreish icing on the poetry cake. Take care. Shaun.x.

'Just pick up a phone, and talk long and with love Just to hear you will set them aglow And ‘though hugs postponed until maybe next year Your voice has more power than you know! ' - Thank you dear poet for these inspiring lines. A distant voice coming through phonecalls is not a proper substiture of hugs though, it will at least give a feel of nearness to the persons called, the beloved ones.
