A READER'S REVIEW ABOUT CAT PARADISE BOOK
The author, NHIEN D NGUYEN MD, has used artfully and poetically most simple and image-filled words to describe the world of his cats: two house cats and the six cats who live outside. In these cats'world, there is love, playfulness, jealousy, conflict, cohesiveness, separation, competition for food, togetherness, departure, hope, and despair. But the most impressive and shining part of these cats' world is the LOVE: the love between these cats and between these cats and those who live with them. Therefore, the world of these cats is worth living and is the paradise: the CAT PARADISE.
The special accomplishment in this book is that the author cleverly used the world of the cats to invoke readers to relate and to reflect themselves in the world of humans. In the world of humans, there is also love, playfulness, jealousy, conflict, cohesiveness, separation, competition for food, togetherness, departure, hope, and despair. However, that world of humans can become the world that is worth living and is a paradise, if we, as humans, aim for LOVE as the main goal of life.
The author has succeeded in invoking his readers to relate, and, to reflect, in comparing these two worlds: the world of these cats and the world of humans. This success gave the poems in this book the power to melt readers'hearts with their emotions.
It's so strange and it's almost unbelievable that even though the author of this book didn't paint a picture of a paradise of fairies - which is far beyond the reach of humans - and he also didn't use highly polished words, but the Cat Paradise book is so inviting. The author didn't bring a paradise to his readers, even for seconds, but, instead, he subconsciously suggested each reader create a paradise for him/ herself. The path to reach this paradise seems to be so difficult. However, it rests in our individual hands: that we need to forgive each other, to accept individual differences, to love each other; so, together, we create our shared paradise.
