A Single Blade Of Grass Poem by Shaun Cronick

A Single Blade Of Grass

Rating: 5.0

A single blade of grass,
Amid many a tall bluebell.
Here in nature's woodland,
What stories can it tell.

Of raindrops falling on it,
The creatures it has seen.
Or bathing in the warmth,
Of a summer's hot sunbeam.

Oh! Single blade of grass,
How sad must be your plea.
Without the company of others,
As green as you can be.

Then autumn starts to blow,
With seeds upon its breeze.
That gently land around you,
And put your mind at ease.

Spring returns as promised,
As you view the ground below.
And smile at what you see,
As the grass begins to grow.

Dedicated to Valerie Dohren,
For all her wonderful poetry.

I thought your good self hadn't finished your original comment Rose Marie. And I will add to my original comment by saying thank you for all your uplifting moral support. For that for me that is a good thing. And a good thing never dies. A good thing helps me to write more refined poetry. Thank you so much Rose Marie and I wish you well.

I'm so glad you found this one Rose Marie and I'll tell you a secret. I got the inspiration for it after reading Dylan Thomas's amazing and captivating Fern Hill in the second line he writes 'happy as the grass was green. And this is the result. Thanks again and I wish you and the loved ones around you the very best this life and poetry has to offer. Take care.
