A Soldier Poem by Jaishree Nair

A Soldier

Rating: 5.0

The mother torn in cruel fate cursing destiny
Her bleeding womb staining motherhood..
Her lullabies reduced to barren ashes..
Scalding tears flowing from her soul...

The grief of a hapless father...
The lump in his throat bursting
with thunderstorms to flood his heart....
The music of life drained away forever.

The wailing of the soul mate
heart broken in the jolt unexpected..
Dreams and aspirations crushed ere blossoming...
Nightmares to haunt her sleep forever.

The innocent tot -a pawn in life's game...
Thorns strewn in her path early.
The bud lone and solitary...
Fate smirking with the madness of cruelty...

Various roles left incomplete.
As he went to answer that call of duty..
His doom he foresaw....but
his motherland his priority!

Striding forward to wrestle his homeland
from the clutches of fiends many
A soldier to the last breath...
A martyr he never feared to be..!

Their sleepless nights with watchful eyes
rocking us with dreams secure....
Indebted we are to these noble souls
forgotten behind the curtain of time...
their shrouds painted with the tricolour!

Many people have no idea of what life is like outside of their borders. I wish their was no need for soldiers, but warring is in our animal nature
