Tonight, the sky is clear as the rain has stopped
In clear flowing water of a canal, several stars take their baths.
Shiny banana leaves hustle against each other for the shy moon
A cluster of old bamboos wait for a breeze by a pond bank.

From different alleys, people come out in groups
Men enter a watch tower to play cards;
Girls go to river bank to sing 'Đúm'
Older women carry their grand kids on their back, to visit each other.

In a deserted field - oh why using cone hat during night time?
Two persons secretly sneak into a mulberry field.
There is also a pair of fire worms
Who fly happily together, like they are falling in love.

ĐÊM XUÂN

Trời quang quẻ, đêm nay không mưa nữa
Nước trong ngòi chảy tắm mấy ngôi sao.
Tàu chuối láng chen mặt trăng xấu hổ,
Khóm tre già đợi gió đứng bên ao.

Trong các ngõ, người đi ra từng tụm,
Những đàn ông vào điếm họp quân bài;
Các cô gái ra bờ sông hát đúm,
Mấy bà già cõng cháu đến nhau chơi.

Ngoài đồng vắng - trời đêm mà che nón?
Có hai người đi lẻn tới nương dâu.
Và lại có cả một đôi đom đóm
Bay dập dìu như muốn phải lòng nhau.
