A Spring Prayer Poem by Valsa George

A Spring Prayer

Rating: 5.0

Days ago, under a black umbrella,
The Earth, shrouded in sheets of white,
Lay inert as a lifeless corpse,
Waiting for the ineluctable graveyard shift

After the muted shades of grey n' white
The world is now painted afresh
In fluorescent shades of green, yellow and red
Days mesh with scenes of vernal beauty
And sounds of moving feet n' jubilant crowd
Tender shoots of green peek from the earth's crust
And dandelions parade their first yellow blossoms
Animals have woken up from their winter nap
Birds have begun winging their way back
Crossing alien boundaries to their sweet homes
The overhanging silence is broken
With new sounds that tickle the air
Bees from floral cups, the heavenly nectar sip
Signalling winter has lost its obstinate grip

In the midst of all these cheerful immensities
Flakes of snow, layer on layer, lie piled within
And harden as rocks with worms of fear inching their way
To eat away all the delicate buds of hope

Spring, Oh! Spring grace me with your regal smile
Brightening my sky with constellations of stars
Crash down the walls that segregate, leaving me a fugitive
And pour love's balm into my bruised soul
Possess me as an unseen benevolent spirit
Thawing the frozen interiors with your warm sunshine!

The wonders and beauty of spring have been painted beautifully on the canvas of this marvelous poem. Spring is a season of birth and renewal. And this poem showed that spring symbolizes hope. That despite hardships there is hope that we could hold onto in life propelling us to rise. Beautifully crafted and well executed write as always.
