A Toast To Love

Rating: 5.0

Dearest, it's time to lift our glass
without recourse to guile.
This moment too shall pass

Topic(s) of this poem: love and loss
I cannot forget that I am getting on in age and over the past several years I have learned to tell my friends and loved ones how I feel about them in no uncertain terms. When I was a young adult I hesitated to be effusive for fear I'd be misunderstood. But as we age we become more comfortable with emotions. Now my friends and I often end a conversation with I love you in some form or other as we hug and kiss each other farewell. I sure don't want to leave too much of what I feel unsaid when my time on this planet is over.

Love is right and love is might. Love remains in memory. Loss of love provokes thought and this is so sad. This poem is very deeply emotional and excellently penned. An excellent drafting is shared.10

Sara, this is lovely, and what you said in your poet note is fantastic. We need to let others know that we love them before it's too late. I have a poem on this very subject, simply called 'I Love You'. Congratulations on having it selected as poem of the day. It is truly well-deserved.

This is an amazing poem by all means. The style and its mysticism remind me of Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat. Thanks and congrats, Sara.
