A Woman's Heart Poem by Lora Colon

A Woman's Heart

Rating: 4.9

Who really knows a woman's heart
But the woman wherein it dwells,
She guards its contents like rare jewels,
Deepest secrets, she never tells

Her heart.... a book you'll never read,
Written in code and dialect,
Mysterious and passionate,
But isn't that what you'd expect?

With secrecy's mantle torn away,
A most precious treasure's revealed....
Her love for a man vibrates her,
Such rapture cannot be concealed

When he is enthroned in her heart,
She places him on love's altar,
Faithfully worshiping each day,
Her sacred trust does not falter

For his love, she surrenders peace,
Trading it for delirium,
And in calmer hours finds herself
Longing again to be with him

A woman's heart, chamber of birth,
Sunshine comes to reclaim its ray,
Dreams are brought here to be revived,
Love is reborn, day after day

A woman's heart does not complain,
Silently it suffers and cries,
When it's unloved and scorned by him,
It seeks its own graveyard.... and dies

OMG Lora, your poetry just gets better and better with time. But as a man who does love you and hopes to have a small place in your heart till the end of time, let me just say for myself (if not all men) Lora I (we) do not desire or deserve to be worshiped by you. Only God deserves such praise! And the love that you seek and desire more than anything is already yours. God's peace is yours as well if only you will claim it. And every poem you write tells my heart that I am loved. So please write on dear Poet, for every wounded heart in the world... We need you!

What a delightful poem. A woman's heart has a depth of an ocean and breadth of the sky where much is hidden and much more is revealed like those twinkling stars of night. Thank you for sharing such beautiful poem Lora.

A woman's heart does not complain, Silently it suffers and cries, When it's unloved and scorned by him, It seeks its own graveyard.... and dies..a meditation in depth of a woman's heart born from experience that is unique and demands the strength of self-observation..... thank you dear poetess Lora
