A Woman's Plea Poem by Nosheen Irfan

A Woman's Plea

Rating: 5.0

Don't call me beautiful
I'm no rose
I'm a woman
With a beating heart
A working mind
I'm just as human as you
With feelings rushing
Through me
My blood is as red as yours
Passing through veins
To all the parts of me
To all the breaths
To all the sobs
To all the sins
To all the desires
I'm just as fallible as you
Don't expect me
To be an angel.

Hi Nosheen, Loved this marvelous poem. It is a like a talk: a heart-to-heart talk...open as it is... For the chauvinists, those who consider women inferior, here it is: : : My blood is as red as yours: : And to the women who want to see men as inferior beings, here is the reminder: To all the sobs To all the sins To all the desires I'm just as fallible as you: : No one is infallible. To err is human. That is all. And finally, Don't expect me To be an angel. Nice write. A full 10... and onto mypoemlist, as a reminder for me to come back for a re..Thank you Nosheen.

Nosheen, this is a forthright, honest, uncompromising statement-poem. Plea in your poem does not mean, Please, sir, can I have more? NO, NO! You are not asking permission, you are asserting two things: women are equal to men, and women demand that equality in society. You state these affirmations of equality forcefully by rejecting certain cliches of the past, like a sentimental view of female beauty and a misguided notion of women as angels. I'm am 100% with you and your sisters around the globe. B-U-T just from the POV of a fellow poet... Beauty and Angelism, this idealization of womanhood, is deeply rooted in my poetic soul. In a deep, abiding, true relationship between a woman and a man, there is an exchange of virtues (strengths) and desires which enhances their humanity. And the invocation of Beauty and Angelism is the poetic expression of this spiritual achievement. Yes? (I understand your poem here is about societal issues and needs.)

Oh my. I must think of beauty in a different way. You make a strong feminist statement demanding equality.

I'm just as fallible as you Don't expect me To be an angel. A slice of plain truth to all who expect a woman to be a goddess or a paragon of beauty or an embodiment of virtue!

I'm just as fallible as you Don't expect me To be an angel.......this plea of a woman is justified as you have penned nicely. Still there are some special qualities in woman than a man in which the woman is beautiful. Marvelous poem shared, Thank u dear Nosheen for posting such a nice poem on womanhood.
