Bistray main laitay jab tum aahaiN bhartay ho
to ghadday k spring chooN choon kartay
halki si awaaz main tumaray dukh ka mazaak kartay hain.
Kitni sakhti hai ye - ghaddy ki nahin - zinda rehenay ki!
Zinda rehna asaaan nahin hai.Zindgi bhar tum sochtay rahey
kam-se-kam apnay bistray main tum eemaan kar saktay ho.
Tum sochtay raheyk apnay bistray main tum akelay ho.

The Sigh

You lie in your bed and sigh
and the springs deep in the mattress
sing out with the same low note,
mocking your sadness. It's hard-
not the mattress, but life.
Life is hard. All along
you thought you could trust in
your own bed, your own sorrow.
You thought you were sleeping alone.
