Advice From A Mother Poem by Adams King

Advice From A Mother

Rating: 5.0

What's the badge if honor
to a lifeless man
Only the dead could tell

Segun! Mother calls
Dead men tell no tales
Not enjoy an unworn crown

Better a mother in bondage
Than a childless woman
In a paradise of gold

Segun! You are my son
Stain not your hands with blood
And be no party to war

What our generation saw
Made us fall into our deep sleep
And acted like we know not

Until we are matured enough
To learn that peace
Is never been bought by pieces

There are many Judas among us
Ready to betray our saviour
Turning protest into war

Many Peters have been out
Cutting the ears of Malchus
And expected to be heard

If you are bred in love and peace
Be not yoked together
With wicked and unreasonable men

We wrestle not against men
For the deep things of life
Are on the surface of wisdom

Segun! A word they say
Have made wise men wiser
And yet made foolish men fall.

A wise advice. Indeed we all need to keep it all the time with us. Thank-you for reminding.
