After The First Day Of Spring Poem by D.N. Rebb

After The First Day Of Spring

Rating: 5.0

After the first day of spring,
In beautiful Williamsville
How many years has it been?
Since those pale grey eyes instilled

Strong archives of empathy
Yet through treasured memories
Remorse still lingers, likely
From complex dilemma seized

Worth more than what was offered
Rushed fumble linked tough choices
Noting that smile, softened
The uncontrollable tears

After the first day of spring,
In beautiful Williamsville
The timely passing still stings
If only the guilt could chill

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a very personal poem. I visited the Williamsville cemetery where we mom's ashes are at rest three years after her passing. She died March 22nd (a day after the first day of spring) in 2020; just at the beginning of the pandemic. It still saddens me that we couldn't give her a proper service due to Covid
