All That's Left Poem by Juan Olivarez

All That's Left

Rating: 5.0

All that's left now, is to sit in the sun,
And warm my bones for just a while.
And dream of life when just begun,
So long ago as a very small child.

When I would run for hours on end,
It seems that I would never tire.
nothing could deter, there was no stopping me,
my feet just seemed to be on fire.

What I would give for a meager taste,
Of those wonderful days of long ago.
When my world was fresh and new and chaste,
how fast those years just seemed to flow.

And yet somehow I think, I finally understand.
And I am still happy despite it all.
happy for my small part in this scheme so grand,
To have had a ticket to the ball.

What I feared most, I now can see,
someday I'll welcome with arms spread wide.
And then once more I shall be free,
just sailing away on the evening tide.
