As If To Have Earned Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

As If To Have Earned

Competent.
Decisive.
Intelligent.
And...
With proven common sense.
Honest and sincere.
Faithfully dedicated.
Possessing an integrity,
Obvious and clear.
But yet...
Too overqualified,
For someone with these credentials...
As a leader to consider.
And have it believed,
By people wishing to have their delusions...
More represented,
That will allow them to keep...
A greatness to imitate it,
Kept fantasized to fictionalized...
A reality some prefer to leave,
As a statement to make.
Without involving their participation.
Although...
Entitlements galore,
They will fight for as if to have earned!
With a sacrificing,
Their own blood, sweat and tears.
Not to have been borrowed to embellish!
