As softly as the stream does flow
Down from the hills above,
The waters pass and yet I know
They shall not bring me love.
Its silver surface shines so bright
Within the morning sun,
Yet cannot free me from my plight
For life has yet begun.
As floating leaves begin to sink
My heart does sink with thee,
For as they drown it makes me think
That joy I'll never see.
The sound so sweet unto my ear
I walk its winding way,
Then look upon its water clear
And wish for love this day.
As softly as the stream does flow
Around the rock and stone,
I think of love so long ago
As I now watch alone.
All of the feeling comes across intact, , another beautifully sad piece again by you Andrew all the best Love duncan X
very beautiful, yet I feel it rather lonesome.. all the events are nicely depicted here in this poem..
An appealing imagery from Nature and the soft and graceful music flows through your poem. 10++++++++ CP
The stream is a metaphor for your silent tears that flow for what can never be. Very poignant and romantic.10 for you, my gifted friend. Kind regards, Sandra
