Back To Outdoor Work (Limerick) Poem by Mike Smith

Back To Outdoor Work (Limerick)

Rating: 5.0

Three days I've been roofing in sun
I've done battle with sunburn- it won
The hue of my skin
Is lobster-akin
Hot showers aren't very much fun

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It's been the first week of truly nice weather all year for us in northern Illinois and as such we've been hitting it pretty hard at work to take advantage the fair temperatures and kick off the season of outdoor work. As a very very (very) pale skinned ginger, the first few days of constant sunshine provide me with an all encompassing sting due to my refusal of sunscreen
You think a guy would take a hint and wear the stuff... But then again, dark gingers have bright futures.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Well written about the heat you were observing.

I saw you the other day and it looked painful. I would suggest it (Sunscreen) at least for your face. I hope Wes reads this, as he has inspired another limericist. Very well done, good flow and a punctuated ending.

I would suggest turtles grow wheels so they don't have to flip through the sand like that... But you don't hear me preachin. Jeez Only joking. Thanks

I don't like to use sunscreen either, in spite of the fact that I have a history of skin cancer. I think all of them feel greasy. I do wear a cowboy hat outdoors most of the time. Nice limerick.

Greasy and smelly... If I wanted to be those things I'd be a fry cook at a skunk steak house
