Be A Good Neighbour, Be A Good Samaritan

Rating: 4.5

BE A GOOD NEIGHBOUR, BE A GOOD SAMARITAN
Jerusalem to Jericho,
a road, too treacherous to go.

robbers and bandits, always wait,
to rob and show victims, pearly gates.

a Jewish merchant, passing by,
beaten, stripped, robbed, and left to die.

a Jewish priest saw, the
half-dead man,
left telling, ' with blood, why soak hands? '

a Levite too, passing along,
scrammed mumbling, ' sad to see man wronged.'

a Samaritan came and stopped;
then, to help, down to knees he dropped.

cleaned, bandaged the wounds, to his best;
and gave water, to quench man's thirst.

lifted and took him, on his donkey,
as, to get well, home rest was key.

after few days, the Jew got fit,
and left, with cash from host, as gift.

the good Samaritan helped, the Jew,
ignoring long standing tribal feuds.

the good man helped, one in distress;
be a good neighbour, Jesus stressed!
---
The Good Samaritan Parable was told by Jesus Christ to a congregation of Jews. Samaritans and Jews had long standing disputes and hated each other.
The story was told by Jesus when a Jewish lawyer asked him: ' how can one have eternal life? '.
pearly gates - gates of heaven
Levite - an assistant to a Jewish priest.

I know this parable too well, but once again loveliest worded and with such great support to tyhe parable once Jesus told in that Congregation.5 Stars for this sublimest Bible truth. To my Favourites!
