I take a deep breath and begin to pray
I release that breath and think back on today
Every day is getting a little easier
than the day before the week before
the month before and the year before
all those months and all those years
before that moment you left me in tears
This does not mean I no longer care
I just don't dream of you being there
I do not blame you for all the years wasted
Or for all the bitterness tasted...
But remember those vows I said
from this day forward til death us do part
I promise to love you with all of my heart
Well they still screaming in my head
I am still alive and you are not dead
It was not my intention to scream and shout
It's kind of just happened as I write it out
You never could understand
I'd never have let go of your hand
Now to remember is all that I can do
To forget the love I shared with you
For all those years, before you left.
It's very rare in people but you seen to have a very forgiving nature. I am a fan of your work so far and have only read the first couple of poems on your list. Can't wait to get the chance to read the rest.
A strong emotional moment that is beautifully evoked. Thanks, Tia.
I feel your torment as you try to move on but cannot let go. It makes beautiful poetry but I sense at a high emotional price. Well done. Paul.
