The day is dark and gray
My thoughts stray
in the tangles of clouds,
I see a sky veiled in sorrow
torn, yet sailing
Inside the trees,
I hear the dying wind wailing.
It looks like dusk
falling a little too soon
My wide open eyes, greedy
to take in all
of the somber mood
that the rain will crown happily.

Hi Nosheen, A lovely poem on the imminent rain. It is the monsoon season in the continent, and Kerala (my native place) is the place where rain the most beautiful. And you have captured the mood in so little words, so elegantly. I loved every line; yer every one of it. The day is dark and gray... It looks like dusk falling a little too soon- Yes: When the rain-clouds invade the skies, the day gives way for an untimely dusk and it is at the same time dark and gray. Loved it. And then, My thoughts stray In the tangle of clouds- I am reminded of the representation of the moods of Yaksha, the hero in Meghsandeasham by Kaalidasa. Just two lines here and Kaalidasa used a full shloka to do the same. I see a sky veiled in sorrow torn, yet sailing inside the trees- the images flow like a song, one after another. 'Sky veiled in sorrow' is really exquisite pictuarisation of cloudy skies. marvellous. I hear the dying wind wailing, as it gives way for the torrent of rain. Such a small poem; but so beautiful. Loved reading. Would come back for re. Thank you Nosheen for sharing. A full 10++

Beautiful poem with a beautiful image to enhance the sombre mood!
This must be a universal feeling. I go outside to experience this whenever I can. Often staying out until I am thoroughly soaked
After reading this wonderful poem only I can say is ME TOO I also get the same feeling just b4 the rains....when the wind is soft and bulky, when light is really lite and inner emotions are ready to merge the surroundings.100+++
