Bilal Bin Rabah Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Bilal Bin Rabah

Rating: 5.0

whilst still a slave
he embraced Islam
which brought upon him
the wrath of his master

the master tried to coerce him
into rejecting his faith and religion
by placing a huge rock on his chest
during the peak summer heat of Mecca

he fought bravely
in the battles of Uhud and Badr
where he was able to avenge himself
from his former master

gifted with
a beautiful voice
he surely became
Prophet’s muezzin

Allā hu Akbar, Allā hu Akbar
Allā hu Akbar, Allā hu Akbar

Ash-hadu an lā ilā ha illallā h
Ash-hadu an lā ilā ha illallā h

Ash-hadu anna Muħ ammadan rasū lullā h
Ash-hadu anna Muħ ammadan rasū lullā h

Hayya 'alas-salā h, Hayya 'alas-salā h
Hayya 'alal-falā ħ , Hayya 'alal-falā ħ

Allā hu akbar, Allā hu akbar
Lā ilā ha illallā h

Allahumma rabba hadhi-hid
da'wa-tit-tamma wa-salatil qae-ma

Ati muhammadanil wasilata wal fadeela
Wab ath-hu maqamam-mahmuda-nil ladhi wa at-ta
