He is walking and talking…
And cursing his shadow!
He has lost his job
His fortune and glow
He is running and yelling
Afraid of his shadow!
He has debt from gambling
The collectors, tonight will show up
He is yelling and screaming
And punching his shadow!
Is he high on drugs?
No one might ever know
The acid test on life
The inter-connectivity of life
Combining to devastating effect to produce what?
This Domino Effect?
For some, this experience will manifest as …VICTORY
For others, as …DOOM
How do you explain that?
Bonfire of the vanities?
A series of unfortunate event?
Bless your heart, if it’s built of steel
Bless your heart, if you see through the fog
Bless your heart, if crisis comes to you, and you never stop smiling
Over the bridge he throws himself off
Free of a job
Free of debt
Free of drugs
Free at last
May His Soul Rest In Peace

Antoine Domino ~ Domino Effect [DE] ~ Rhythm and Blues ~ Actually he succumbed to/for DE… though sad…still poetically very valid and valuable…and viable to be kept in memory vial for what drug can do...helps to escape from reality…… thanks for sharing Regards Ms. Nivedita UK 10/10
What the catastrophe life has brought to him! Tug of war of existence. May it be natural, sometimes unavoidable....but the narrator penned the inner-reality very skillfully and wisely. Well-written pains of defeat. Well-written variations of winning agony which makes the reader somehow shocked at the moment when poem stops. Good poem. Social consciousness and the humanic sense of the poet is also appreciating which gives a poem universality. Thank you very much. Regards, 10+ pranab
It is sad how he had to go through all this, sad until the very end. I hope he found happyness somewhere beyond
