But I Know Poem by Soran M. H

But I Know

Rating: 5.0

I am not a politician.
But I know this:
when people put on
dark glasses,
the whole world
turns dark
before their eyes.
Some politicians
want the rich
to grow richer
while the poor
sink deeper
into poverty.
They call it
"the market."
Perhaps they believe
this is the foundation
of prosperity.
That is why
I am not a politician.
Bad politicians
can murder
the spirit of tolerance,
integrity,
and diversity—
then wrap themselves
in the flag
and call themselves
patriots.
When poverty
takes root,
when public services
begin to decay,
when the homeless
multiply in the streets,
modernity turns backward,
step by step,
toward the Middle Ages.
Then people are left
destitute,
stripped of their rights.
They complain.
They cry out.
Yet they cannot see
where the wound began,
or whose hand
first taught it
to bleed.

Bad politicians also practice graft and corruption which will lead to moral degradation and poverty.

I like the opening lines on how the brilliant Poet has described a bad politician. Yes, the term' general welfare' is not in their agenda instead they are into power to accumulate wealth.
