I booked a trip to get away for a couple of days.
just a bit of time to get closer to you.
Without the added stress.
I unzipped my heart and packed
a couple of socks, a few pairs of pants.
shirts, my toothbrush, and my phone charger.
work will still be here when I get back.
the small mound of clothes I didn't get to fold
will still be in the dryer.
my family wished me safe travels
and asked for a few souvenirs.
I watered my plants. took the trash out.
only think left to do, grab my keys.
grab my phone and let you know I'll call when I get closer.
hopefully, the service doesn't go out.
carefully chosen dreams and desires aren't covered.
two things that I have in my carry-on.
a kiss from you, and a smile soon as I see you.
