POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Cecil the Lion was shot by an American dentist recently. At the time of this writing, authorities in Africa are trying to extradite him, claiming the lion was shot illegally. He was a protected lion in a reserve and was allegedly lured out of the reserve before being shot.

I don't think he was ever extradited.
