Dalai Lama - An Ode To A Gentle Spiritual Leader Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Dalai Lama - An Ode To A Gentle Spiritual Leader

Let there be hundred sins by sinners
let there be thousands prayers by devotees
but let there never be any irresponsible actions
by spiritual leaders as they are the ones who invoke faith
to connect and link perpetual trust and devotion.

Let there be errors of immorality by humans
let there be mistakes of behavior by students
but let there never be blunders by pious priests
for they are the lamps of inspiration
who promote the light of worship and veneration.

Let there be many parody and emotions by humans,
let there be many variations of attitude by people
but let there never be any controversy on the conduct
of any religious leader for he is the star who shines
to enlighten many hearts and minds with divinity.

Let there be many eyes that keep watching the sunrise
let there be many nights that tell it is time to fall sleep
but let there be no mis-judgment or blameworthiness
that spells unworthiness of another's piousness and sanctity.

Let there be many signs and symbols
let there be cordiality and gentleness,
but let there never be contempt in love and affection
as purity is a sacred feeling whether it is
the feet of the Gods you touch for worship
or whether you bless the head of a child
to confer upon him your blessings.
