Now that the heaping crumpled paper, boxes and bows
are remnant reminders, is there afterglow...
Or lasting offers of peaceful promise
Outstretched kindness, in stranger's hands...
A wish for goodwill, blanketing all lands
The day after Christmas, still merry and bright....
Glad tidings, and to all, a good night....
Cheerful Christmas cheers that lingers and leaps with serenity.
Greetings Susan The spirit still lingers if one looks for it, beyond the cynical, like a loved plant that is brought in to the house once a year but lives on in the garden of our soul all year long. A pleasure to read and may I humbly commend my piece 'A Yuletide Wish' which also conveys something of the PEACE we all crave so much. Shaun.
Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy New Year Susan

A delightful entreaty to the lasting spirit of the season... I have kept my tree up until this weekend as a reminder of the spirit of human kindness... peace on earth and good will to all.
