Dear Toetoe (Nz Tall Feathery Grass) Poem by Ann Beard

Dear Toetoe (Nz Tall Feathery Grass)

Rating: 4.3

Dear Toetoe, can you hear me,

roots in sand, beside the sea.

No discontent, nor thought of gain,

just shy white fronds blown prettily.

A penchant for the harshest places,

cliffside, wasteland, lonely shore.

Your form, thrives on the isolation,

rain and sunshine, nothing more.

Dear Toe Toe, can you sense me,

feel my breath raise plumes to sway.

My admiration for your lightness,

push all thoughts of greed away.

To calm unrest, one needs to dream,

blown spume rides high on restless sea.

Like Toe Toe, given time,

I too could learn.....to be just me.
