Dear Vincent, Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Dear Vincent,

Rating: 5.0

Dear Vincent,

wake up!
Your last self-portrait,
found today

in the Art Gallery Of Scotland, Edinburgh
it is behind the painting with the farmer's wife,
how wonderful is the invention of the X-ray-technique,
makes all invisible in paintings be visible

How delightful does that sound:
your self-portrait be found
and discovered today!

You were so poor and very unknown,
and always banned,
as a tramp in a way
absinth drinker too,
as poor as a church rat,
due to Theo, you had always been provided with money
and you could keep your dignity

as all world famous artists
you had become famous after your death
now the world possesses your wealth

Please, Vincent, wake up
Experience this great happiness
Your last self-portrait found today
in the Art Gallery Of Scotland, Edinburgh

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
During his life he could not sell one painting. He was very poor. His style is impressionistic. A Dutch painter. World famous AFTER his death. He had done every subject, he never got success. He was a very unhappy soul, since he was born exactly one year after his eldest brother's death. You can see the grave of his eldest brother in Nuenen, The Netherlands, Vincent was born on the same day as his still born brother, I think this is the answer for all his failures during his life.
