Did you come back for a beer?
Did you come back for a smoke?
No, you came here
To tell me this isn't a joke
That you weren't killing yourself
Well, not anymore
You put it all on a shelf
Never to see it anymore.
You don't know how proud I am of you
And I can't begin to tell you
That I am glad you are
Not at the town bar
But you say it's going well
That you can't tell if hell
Has gone away and God showed you the light
And that you gave up without a fight.
Did you come back for a beer?
Did you come back for a smoke?
No, you came here
To tell your folks
That this isn't a joke
That you were going to be okay
That this is today
And that was in the past
And you wouldn't have last.
You were alive
God protected your life
You never felt so alive
You were saved
I knew you would have caved
Sooner or later
You gave up forever.
*(This is for my Tia may God keep her safe, Let her hide away from the world inside a giant cave, Let all her sins disappear in a bathe, For a new life she can pave) *
