Dream Catcher Poem by Amanda Lukas

Dream Catcher

So long it's been since I've seen you
I'd scarcely recognize you, if it weren't for my dreams,
my designated protector.
I admit I am overcome with grief, at times.
I know it's what holds you from going any farther.
So selfish I am sometimes,
to think that I could even keep you from paradise.

I remember saying I chose you,
but I've come to realize how wrong I was
and how happy I am that you did choose me.
I appreciate your sacrifice.

I guess I should be old enough not to need your hand to hold,
but thank you so much, my angel,
for continuously extending it.
