Dust Poem by Paula Glynn

Dust

The planet turns,
Carrying its people,
But I am dust,
I had once been alive and beautiful,
But the days didn't stop,
And what was once a mystery,
Became secondhand history.

Wars came and went,
Famine came and went,
And with it many lessons were learnt,
But to walk this earth takes courage,
And a profound knowledge so deep,
It will leave you at peace,
And help you sleep.

It is true: your body will become dust,
But people continue,
Living by the rules you've made,
They will be alive, they will smile,
And they will not be afraid.

For it is one step in front of the other,
It can be one lover after another,
But remember: enjoy your play,
But don't forget you cannot stop days.

Life will give you lemonade if you squeeze lemons,
And love will put a cherry on top of your cake,
Because the fruits of the earth feed everyone,
Even those we do not call rich in money,
But those with love and inner strength,
Hope and compassion,
Who are not blind or rude.

Even the sun sets in paradise,
But time is a gift, even with its charms,
Time removes us from one nightmare place,
To a beautiful home,
Where there is no waste.
And music plays: we all dance here,
And we are strong: we do not feel fear,
Our souls never turning to dust,
With the setting of the sun.

I enjoyed the poem. You certainly covered a variety of topics. Should we worry? Perhaps no. Best
