Embracing Reality Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Embracing Reality

Many awakening these days,
Embracing reality.
For what reality is.
From it not to turn away.
Are those most fortunate.
To observe and witness,
A culture decaying.
By those sickened...
With self interest and greed.
Believing their diseased mentalities,
Are threatened.
And has become the envy,
Of their own citizens.
Promoted to initiate division and hatred.
Insisted by the leaders they have picked,
Sitting in positions...
Intentionally destroying a greatness.
To solicit the feeding of an exclusive feast.
With a deceiving to distract,
Corrupted contracts...
Made between themselves.
Leaving torn and tattered,
A quality of life to once have had.
With this to blame and accuse,
Those whose backs they stand upon.
To claim they are the reason,
Their greatness to value...
Is diminishing to fade.
And one day from them be gone.

"Who are they,
Who they rally against.
While standing on their backs to offend? "

-Oh,
'Those' people?
They are the ones,
Attempting to take...
Our entitlements away.-

"And...
If they should go back,
To where they came from.
What then would be left,
For us to be entitled to prove? "

-Who knows.
Our leaders have yet,
To disclose or propose...
A revealing of their facts.-
