Escape From Reality Poem by Stanley Cooper

Escape From Reality

Rating: 3.9

To awaken from our life-long dream
And discover the world as it is
We would receive a reality gleam
That reality is well worth the miss

We choose to keep the world out of sight
And continue to dream our years through
Clearly we need this reality flight
Of reality we don’t want a clue

So slumber we will to avoid what exists
Reality is not that great
The world in its state has gone far amiss
So we’ll dream to ameliorate

Great poem. Every time I write a new one, that is my escape from reality. All of us do it. Congratulations for having this selected as poem of the day!

Very well crafted poem with perfect rhyme. The theme reflects flippancy of human nature vis-a-vis realities of life. Thanks for sharing it.

Of course reality of this world is just a small part of Reality of higher worlds with which we may communicate via dreams!

Without dreaming.......dreaming.....and dreaming, imaginatively, what reality in real life can we realize? In my view, dreaming is part of reality, what ever form it appears. Quite imaginative and thought provoking. Congrats on being its PoD.

I agree - reality sucks. Imagination is far better, The trouble is that we can all imagine the world as it should be and that brings frustration and grief.
