Estou Ficando Doente

Rating: 5.0

'Do you want to hear my latest poem? '
I asked Fabio Escobar the other day.

'Where is it? ' he asked.
(Yes, that is exactly how he
asked the question. Usually his
English is very good.)

So I told him my poem:
'Estou ficando doente
por falta de agua quente.'

Without hesitation he replied:
'Pode ficar tranquilo.
Deixe tudo com a gente.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
We had not had any hot water in our apartment for several days, and Fabio, while not directly connected to that problem, was someone you count on to contact the right people to get things done. Translation of my poem: I am getting sick for lack of hot water. Translation of his immediate, comeback rhyming response: You can relax. Leave everything to me. The next morning, we had hot water in the apartment again! written August 2015 Recife, Pernambuco, Brasil... posted on PoemHunter 23 April 2016... p.s. This is the same Fabio Escobar who inspired the poem: 'It Happens'

There was a perfect rhyme. His last word, GENTE, rhymed with both of my end words, DOENTE and QUENTE.
