Expected Given And Returned Received Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Expected Given And Returned Received

Keeping one's integrity.
And identifiable dignity,
Kept intact and walking tall...
With identity flowing from head to toe.
Through a field of spineless backbones.
Remaining proud of this activity.
Permitted to allow and shown condoned.
Is not one's responsibilty,
To prove a thing.
Or feel to be,
Accountable for their actions.
Done to enact,
A lack of awareness obtained.
By maintaining unconsciousness.

Respect expected given and returned,
Received consciously.
Is a commitment to faith and belief.
Many have yet to achieve.
To know and keep realized,
As the main ingredient needed.
That provides one the capability,
To recognize obstacles and negativity.
Left to stay where they are.
Neither to participate nor object.
But kept to acknowledge,
A progress to be made...
Takes effort to keep endeavored.
With steps to make moving forward.
